Probate is the process of settling an individual’s estate after their death with court-supervised administration. Whether the individual has died with a will or Intestate (without a will), the court will appoint a personal representative (or executor) to carry out the administration. The probate process can be time-consuming and very detail-oriented. Navigating the court process alone is not for the faint of heart.
